There is a scam technique called “spoofing.” Spoofing is a method where fraudsters use technology to fake phone numbers or sender identities to appear as a legitimate bank. They often send fake messages or make calls to deceive people, usually aiming to obtain personal information or financial gain. In such scam cases, victims are often tricked into disclosing their bank or other financial details, resulting in significant financial loss. Spoofing is typically carried out in a sophisticated manner, making it difficult for victims to realize they have been scammed.
The easiest way to prevent this is to never give out your phone’s password, PIN, or any other personal information. Call your bank and inquire about any previous calls before providing any information. No legitimate bank will ask you for your PIN number. If someone does ask for it, consider changing your bank.
